Lionel Messi walked out onto the pitch ahead of Barcelona's match against Al-Ahli Saudi FC with a very special mascot; Murtaza Ahmadi.
The young Afghan boy gained Internet fame earlier this year by wearing a plastic bag which mimicked Messi's Argentina shirt.
Finally, on Tuesday (December 13), Murtaza met the Barcelona squad and his hero at Doha's Al Gharaffa Stadium before accompanying the Barcelona captain onto the pitch.
He also joined Barcelona's team photograph and had to be almost dragged away from a bemused but delighted Messi so that the match could start.
In February, Murtaza, from Ghazni province in rural eastern Afghanistan, received an Argentina and Barcelona shirt in a package along with a ball from the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Messi.
It all started when Murtaza asked his father for a shirt like his hero Messi's but it was outside the means of his family, his father Arif Ahmadi told Reuters.
His family decided to dress him in a blue and white plastic bag to mimic the Argentina colours and images of him in the makeshift jersey went viral.
